Adsense Secret #9 - Back Links

The other end of the universe in getting high rankings on search engines is backlinks.

Most web site owners have no idea how important back links are to search engines. I'm not talking about mass submitting your blog or web site to every single web site on the internet. I'm talking about the most valuable back links on the web.

The most powerful back links that you can ever attain for your site are simply web sites that are already highly ranked for the subject your trying to promote.
The reason being is that search engines are like I said very smart. They created a method of ranking sites by who they are associated with internet wise. This is a very powerful tool because of the fact that web sites that relate to your subject literally have to invite you into their highly ranked circle.

It's a way of making sure that a web site isn't on the top of their list
just because they optimized their page and got a bunch of back links.

Search engines make sure that all of their top results are quality and un-tainted by manipulation. I personally consider it as a great thing. When I go to promote a web site, I jump into it with the mind frame that I need to create a web site that is valuable and clear to the intentions of the site. Create a web site to provide a product, service or piece of information, don't create it simply to scatter ads everywhere without a real purpose to the site other than trick people into thinking they has come to a resourceful page, when all they have come to is a page manipulated to get clicks. Trust me, your not gonna get a lot of clicks or rankings on Google that way.

The purpose of creating a valuable site other than to please the search engines, of course goes back to back links.

If a web site owner takes a look at your site just after he received an email from you for a link exchange, and see's small amounts of content, a bunch of ads with no real purpose or value; they are not going to link back to your site. This is how search engines are able to tame the entire search engines process of ranking sites. It goes by what other big web sites think of your site by the factor of either being linked on their site or being a loner cause nobody want to link to them.
Thats what it all boils down too.

Adsense Secret #8 - True SEO

To finish off the last post I wanted to tell you something I can't forget to tell you.

It is very important that you understand that search engines use their algorithms in order to find quality results. Google will not allow you to simply create a web site optimized to the brim to just get high rankings just because the pages have the keywords perfectly calculated.

The point is that search engine results are you they call "Organic", they are results chosen by the Google crawl bot and is to not be tampered with. The algorithms that these search engines are processing with are getting more advanced by the day. It is simply becoming a form of A.I. in this process of ranking sites, yet there is still a mathematical science to marketing on search engines. You just have to do it the smart way and by their rules.

This is where we move on to back links in the next post.

Adsense Secret #7 - SEO

"Search Engine Optimization" or SEO, is the process of optimizing the content on your page in order to get the ranking you deserve on a search engine. I say deserve since it's not a method of getting highly ranked just by throwing a bunch on keywords on your page. If your providing a certain products, service, or piece of information, you want to get exposure. And we all know the best way is to be on a search engine.

So how does it work:
  • The process of SEO is merely making sure that the keywords or key phrases that you want high rankings for are written throughout your page. This doesn't mean that you should start typing the keyword you want high ranking on all over your page a billion times, you'll get a less ranking for that.

The best way to get high rankings through SEO is to be part of the keyword trend, what I mean is, if the top ten sites use the particular keyword 40 to 50 times on their home page then you know you need to write that keyword anywhere from 40 to 50 on your page.

At the same time, the search engine calculates the percentages of the density of the content.
What this means is the search engine counts how many words you have on your page and compares it to the keywords you want high ranking for.

For example: Lets take this title to one of my web sites - "3DS Max Online" Lets say that I wanted to be on the search engine highly ranked for the keyword 3DS by it self. The search engine reads the word as being a 33% density in those 3 words. 3 words and 3DS is one of them makes 33%. If there were 4 words then the word 3DS would have a 25% density. The also look at how close the keyword is the beginning of the section and gives a better ranking for being closer to the front.

This is pretty much how the search engine reads the content on your page. It also reads each section of your page individually and gives it a separate density for that section.

Search engines check your:

  • Document Title
  • Meta Keywords
  • Meta Description
  • Body Text
  • Body Text In Bold
  • First Sentence of the Body Text
  • URL
  • H1 Headline Texts
  • H2 Headline Texts
  • Same Site Link Texts
  • Outbound Link Texts
  • Same Site Link URLs
  • Outbound Link URLs
  • IMG ALT Tags
  • HTML Comment

Another tip is to make sure that your page loads quickly and that there isn't a lot of code and CSS on your html at the top of you page. You want the content you want high rankings for to be at the top of your html.

Adsense Secret #6 - Picking keywords

As we talked about earlier on the kind of content to write, we need to explore further on what keywords to use. You will find certain keywords or key phrases much easier to get high rankings for yet pulls little traffic. You need to be able to find keywords that are easy to get highly ranked for yet get a high search volume.

In order to get this information you need to see what people are searching for and how many times they search for it in a particular amount of time.

Below I have posted a link to a tool provided by Google Adwords in order to help you with your keyword research.

Above is a great tool provided by Adwords which allows you to research on the keyword or key phrase search volume on a particular month.

Adsense Secret #5 - Don't Cheat

The biggest mistake that people make is that they don't read the rules and regulations. You can get banned and blacklisted if you cheat.

Forms of cheating include: telling someone to click on you ads either in person, on the phone, or on the web. The easiest way of getting caught is on the web. You can also get caught just telling people in you home town cause Google is smart. They can tell if a person is visiting or coming to click ads.

For example, if you own a site about boating and your listed on a few directories and search engines. Lets say that your getting 20 clicks a day and they are all comeing from the same exact city and every person that enters your home page goes directly to click a ad without even viewing the rest of your site, then closes their browser. This is obviously someone sent to click and nothing more.

It's a simple matter really. Google Adwords customers want to pay for results, not a waste of money, that's what it all boils down to. So to avoid getting banned, do it the right way or don't even try at all.

Adsense Secret #4 - Content

The type of content is probably the most important aspect of your Adsense campaigns. What you write has everything to do with the types of ads that show up which in turn changes the value of the clicks.

If you write about an unpopular subject and there aren't going to be many advertisers to that subject, then the ads are going to produce a smaller dollar amount per click.

The Adwords program is pretty much an auction of words, the advertiser pays a certain dollar amount to get a certain placement on the ads. So of course the highest bidder gets the highest position. You want to write content that is about popular subjects and high paying subject to get the most out of the ads.

Another importance to you content is to have content that is search engine friendly. I'll talk about this in the next secret.

Adsense Secret #3 - Ad Colors

The colors you use on your ads are also very important. The most effective ads are those that use the same color coordination as the rest of the page and content. In some cases, having a different scheme from your page may benefit you. Yet the most effective method is to set your ads to match your content and links.

For example, if the links on your page are underlined white text. Then set your adsense ads to be the same. Use the same fonts, font sizes, colors of the text and colors of the site links.

You don't want to be deceptive, yet you want the reader to feel comfortable clicking the ads as if it is part of your page and not another advertisement people are so to used to seeing.

Adsense Secret #2 - Ad placement

AD Placement.
Where you place your ad is very important. It is actually one of the most important aspects of your campaigns. If you have an ad placed on a page where nobody can really see it then your gonna have a less chance of someone clicking, at the same time you don't want to put it in their face everywhere they go cause they're not gonna enjoy that and just leave your page without clicking on anything.

There's a few ways of placing your ads to be effective.

One would be to place ads right under content that you have written so that as they read they have to pass over an ad to get to the rest of the content. It's almost hidden in the content yet placed in a way that isn't annoying or obviously deceiving.

Another way is to present the ads as a resource, a good way of doing this is to place the ad on either the top of your page in a horizontal banner or on the right site of your page as a vertical banner.

Adsense Secret #1 - Ad Value

Your first Adsense secret.
The value of your ad is determined by Google according to the page rank pertaining to the relationship of the subject of your content and the ads.

You can have the same ad on the home page of your site as a page deep on your site and they will be worth a different price. It makes more sense to Adwords clients to pay for a listing on a page that is highly ranked for a particular keyword or phrase compared to a page that doesn't have any ranking and someone just happened to stumble on that page and click the ad.

At the same time you must also have content that relates to the subject that you want the ads to appear under. Pick markets that are valuable and write about them.
